We have been looking for a long while. Looking to find a software product that we can resell that tackles higher end RFID applications. A product that is cloud based and mature enough that the product is configurable and does not need to have source code cracked open for every application. Zebra has been endorsing Xemelgo for a few years now, so we started the process that we go through with software vendors earlier this year with Xemelgo. Vetting their products for bug free operations and vetting the company for financial stability and longevity.
We craft solutions for customers’ business problems with a long-proven methodology. Choosing hardware for applications based on our 350+ years of group experience. One of the things that makes us different is that we also tackle the software integration side of solution selling, with a three-layered approach. First is to try to get the customers’ existing software to do the job needed. Second is to apply an off-the-shelf software solution to business needs. And then finally, only after we have exhausted the first two options do we consider writing custom code to solve an application.
We write plenty of custom applications around here, but we try to keep them being middleware only. Getting data from point “a” to point “b” and then back again. Not spending hundreds or thousands of hours writing a custom application. Our group is too small for that level of work and the cost to develop this gets exorbitant.
So, we are always on the lookout for an off-the-shelf software application to fill the need of common business problems that we encounter. A way to get some pretty sophisticated hardware to work in a customer’s environment without breaking that bank. A way to quickly and cost effectively help our customers enjoy the efficiency gains and accuracy that our hardware products are capable of delivering. In this case RFID hardware which is varied and complex.
The main software modules that Xemelgo offers are Work in Process Tracking, Inventory Tracking, and Asset Tracking. These modules are all mature and will work for most customers’ applications right out of the box with some data importation and configuring. There are also robust API’s so that the software can be triggered by or report data back to the customers back-end systems including WMS, MES, and ERP.
