Problem
A fan folding printer stand (not EMP’s) was falling apart and was in need of an upgrade or a rebuild.
Solution
Design and build a similar printer stand that would utilize a Zebra ZT411 Industrial Printer. Incorporate the Applicator Port Option in coordination with a custom software application to trigger a label count display.
Story
A retail customer was using a fan folding label printer stand within their warehouse operations. It was on it’s last leg, in need of a rebuild and upgraded modifications. After drawing up a CAD design, the EMP team decided to keep a similar framed structure. This includes the long rectangular shaft that collects the labels in a folded stack ready for someone to grab them. But EMP also wanted to accommodate the customer’s request for a label counting display. To do this they were going to have to use the Applicator Connector Option, which is not available for all Zebra printers, but it is with the Zebra ZT411. So with a printer chosen, they then wrote a custom application that sends a signal to the label counting display every time the media sensor is triggered. The end result is a space efficient printer stand, printing nicely stack labels, and knowing how many is in each stack.
