Zebra’s Network Connection Manager For A Wireless Network

Recently one of our customers has been installing a private cellular network in their facilities. They are installing this network to supplement their Wi-Fi network. Many large facilities with high ceilings, outdoor spaces, and large pieces of equipment have difficulties with even the best Wi-Fi networks. And if they are in metal buildings, or a remote area, getting public cellular coverage can also be challenging.

This is the perfect storm for installing a private cellular network. But once you have this private cellular network installed, and you are trying to run Zebra mobile computers on both networks, how do you control what network is given priority and when. Enter Zebra StageNow and its Network Connection Manager as the tool to solve this problem.

You see, Zebra has been busy beefing up its mobile computers with Private 5G capabilities for several years now. So, you can choose from touch computers, rugged gun scanners, even tablets to have Private 5G.

Part of the additions have been to add more robust controls over the network selection in the devices. There are no user accessible settings on the device itself to set network preferences, but with StageNow’s Network Connection Manager, you can set which network is preferred and at what signal threshold you should change to the other network.
